MOLSA provides Vocational Training Opportunities to Inmates at Pul-e-Charkhi Prison

Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs with the coordination of the General Directorate of Prisons Administration, launched vocational training programs for the first time at Pul-e-Charkhi Prison. Through this initiative, 90 inmates have been enrolled for six-month theoretical and practical courses such as building electrical installation, computer skills, and tailoring.

Mawlawi Nazar Mohammad Nasiri, Director of Education and Training at the General Directorate of Prisons Administration, stated that vocational training programs in prisons play a significant role in the rehabilitation of inmates and the enhancement of their professional skills, enabling them to learn various professions during their imprisonment.

Vocational training is essential for improving inmates’ professional capacities, preparing them for the labor market, and reducing the likelihood of reoffending. In cooperation with partner institutions, the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs is committed to expand vocational training opportunities across prisons nationwide. The purpose of this initiative is to ensure that inmates, upon their release, possess employable skills that enable them to earn a lawful livelihood and assist their families. The Deputy Minister of Labor Affairs, Alhaj Mawlavi Mohammad Zahid Ahmadzai added these remarks to the participants and the newly recruited students in the aforementioned professions.

The Military Deputy of the General Directorate of Prisons Administration, Alhaj Mohammad Kazim Tariq spoke about the mutual rights and responsibilities of inmates and prison authorities. He encouraged the trainees to make the best use of their time and educational opportunities.

The director of the office of the General Directorate of Prisons Administration, Rahmatullah Gulzad, discussed in detail the importance of earning a lawful income from the perspective of Islam. He expressed through continued cooperation among relevant institutions, vocational training programs in prisons would be further expanded.

It is worth noting that Mawlawi Mohammad Karim Hanafi, Advisor for Labor Affairs, and Mawlawi Abdul Wahid Faiz, Director of the Vocational Training Centers accompanied the Deputy Minister for Labor Affairs during the inauguration ceremony.
