Deputy Minister of Labor Affairs Meets with the Head of the Norwegian Committee for Afghanistan

The Deputy Minister of Labor Affairs, Alhaj Mawlavi Mohammad Zahid Ahmadzai, met with Terie Magnussønn Watterdal, the Head of the Norwegian Committee for Afghanistan, in his office.

The Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs is striving to provide opportunities for technical and vocational training based on labor market needs for youths, returnees from neighboring countries, prisoners, and individuals recovered from addiction. These efforts would significantly help to reduce unemployment in the country. Alhaj Mawlavi Mohammad Zahid Ahmadzai, the deputy minister of Labor Affairs added these remarks while welcoming the Head of the Norwegian Committee for Afghanistan and his accompanying delegation.

He also requested the Head of the Norwegian Committee for Afghanistan to expand the committee’s activities in accordance with the principles and regulations of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan.

Based on available resources, the Norwegian Committee for Afghanistan is striving to accelerate its activities in coordination with the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs and other relevant IEA institutions and to provide services to the people of Afghanistan in various sectors. The Norwegian Committee Head for Afghanistan, Terie Magnussønn Watterdal, shared the information about the committee activities, achievements, and future plans with the deputy minister of Labor Affairs and other officials from the ministry.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides decided to create a technical team to follow up on joint activities and further advance the work.

It is worth noting that in this meeting the Director General of Skills Development, Mawlavi Rahimullah Sarah; the Director of Labor Rights Legislation, Bashir Ahmad Rasikh; and the Labor Affairs Advisor, Qari Mohammad Karim Hanafi were also present.
