Deputy Labor Minister Addresses Prisons Training Seminar

The Deputy Minister of Labor Affairs, Alhaj Mawlavi Mohammad Zahid Ahmadzai, participated in and delivered a speech at a training seminar organized by the General Directorate of Prisons Affairs. The purpose of this seminar was to improve organization management and its activities.

As you are aware, since the re-establishment of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, serious efforts have been made to combat the cultivation, trafficking, and use of narcotics, and this campaign is still ongoing. As a result of these efforts, the cultivation of this harmful phenomenon has been reduced to nearly zero. It was a phenomenon whose benefits went to foreigners, while its disgrace and infamy were associated with the name of our country. The Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs had also fulfilled its responsibilities in this regard. The Ministry had launched technical and vocational training seminars nearly in all prisons of Afghanistan. Through the implementation of these seminars, many Afghan citizens currently serving prison sentences will acquire skills in various professions. After their release, they will be able to earn a lawful livelihood for their families and become skilled workers and professionals. The Deputy Minister of Labor Affairs, Alhaj Mawlavi Mohammad Zahid Ahmadzai added these remarks with the participants of the seminars.

It is worth noting that the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs has also endeavored to provide opportunities for technical and vocational training to individuals recovering from addiction and persons with disabilities among the Mujahideen. The purpose of this program is to enable them to enter the labor market, become self-reliant, and provide a lawful livelihood for their families by acquiring professional skills.

In the Last several years, the Ministry trained over 10,000 individuals recovering from addiction across Afghanistan and provided them with work equipment to support their reintegration into society and help them earn a lawful livelihood
