A Joint Coordination Meeting Held with Sectoral Ministries

A joint coordination meeting was held under the leadership of the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, Alhaj Mullah Abdul Manan Omari. The purpose of this meeting was creating employment opportunities for Afghan citizens. In this meeting the deputy ministers from the Ministries of Industry and Commerce; Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock; Water and Energy; Refugees and Repatriation, as well as representatives from the Ministry of Economy, Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat, chambers of industry and commerce, the Industrialists’ Union, municipalities, the National Statistics and Information Authority, and officials and representatives of industrial parks were present.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, Alhaj Mullah Abdul Manan Omari, in his remarks, held comprehensive discussions on the importance of strengthening inter-ministerial relations and joint cooperation; the allocation of land across different regions of the country for industrialists and returning citizens, expanding facilitation in the issuance of work permits for both domestic and foreign nationals, offering greater support and ease to industrialists in conducting their activities, preventing the import of low-quality and substandard goods, resolving existing challenges in industrial parks, and prioritizing the employment of domestic workers to promote job creation.

The Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs is striving under the leadership of the committee for creating employment opportunities for returning citizens to provide job opportunities for returnees, register skilled and employable individuals in the ministry’s information database. The citizens who missed educational opportunities, the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs is providing technical and vocational training centers, madrasas, and schools for acquiring skills and education. Through this process, all government institutions and the private sector, according to their needs and capacities, will be able to provide employment opportunities. The Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, Alhaj Mullah Abdul Manan Omari, further added these remarks with attendees of the meeting.

The unemployment is one of the challenges in the country which is not deniable; however, the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, particularly the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, is committed to taking effective steps to reduce the unemployment rate through the implementation of various programs. The Deputy Minister of Labor Affairs, Alhaj Mawlavi Mohammad Zahid Ahmadzai subsequently added these remarks.

In conclusion, officials from cooperating government institutions and the private sector pledged that based on a specific mechanism, they would provide employment opportunities for returning citizens throughout the country.
